Paul Lanoue

November 26, 1925 — January 22, 2008

RICHFORD - Paul E. Lanoue, age 82, passed away Tuesday evening January 22, 2008 at the Fletcher Allen Health Care Facility in Burlington.

He was born November 26, 1925 in St. Sebastian, Quebec Canada the son of the late Joseph & Therese (Mailloux) Lanoue.

Paul came to the United States in 1950 and worked on several dairy farms. On September 12, 1959 he married Jeannette Couture at Our Lady of the Lourdes Catholic Church in East Berkshire. In 1963 Paul & Jeannette purchased a dairy farm in East Berkshire which they operated until 1988 when they retired and moved to Richford. While farming he especially enjoyed working in the woods, cutting fire wood, and sugaring. While raising his children on the farm he taught them the pleasure of having fun and working hard. During his retirement Paul could not sit around and do nothing so he took part-time custodial work at All Saints Catholic Church and the Border Patrol Garage. He also mowed lawns for a few elderly ladies. In 1981 Paul became a United States citizen.

Paul was a former member of Our Lady of the Lourdes Catholic Church and presently a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Enosburg Falls. He also served as a Eucharistic Minister at All Saints Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2610 since 1947.

Paul enjoyed snowmobiling and was a former member of the Missisquoi Bear Cats. Paul also enjoyed hunting, fishing, working alongside his family, playing cards was a great family pastime especially with his grandchildren, watching the womens softball league. As a young man he played hockey and loved playing fast pitch softball in several Canadian leagues.

He is survived by his wife, Jeannette (Couture) Lanoue of Richford; a son and his wife, Mario & Patricia Lanoue of East Berkshire; a daughter and her husband, Suzanne & Timothy Bockus and their children Diana & Riley; his siblings, Fabian Lanoue and his wife Estelle of Asbestos, Que., Canada, Denis Lanoue of St. Jean, Que. Canada, Germaine Brisebois and her husband Claude of Longueuil, Que. Canada, May Jeanne Deshaies and her friend Guy Corrineau of Iberville, Que. Canada, Honorat Lanoue of St. Jean, Que. Canada, Joseph Lanoue of Iberville, Que. Canada, Girard Lanoue and his wife Berthe of St. Sebastian, Que. Canada, and Marie Anna Lanoue and her friend Gilles Letourneau of Granby, Que. Canada; a sister-in-law, Jean DArc Lanoue of St. Jean, Que. Canada; 2 brothers-in-law, Edward Jette of Berkshire, and Jean Guy Viens of Richford. Besides his parents he was predeceased by 2 brothers, Jean Louis & Fernand Lanoue; 3 sisters-in-law, Estelle Lanoue, Rita Lanoue, and Yvette Lanoue; a brother-in-law, Sylva Deshaies.

Funeral services will be held Saturday January 26, 2008 at 11:00 AM at All Saints Catholic Church in Richford with Rev. Karl Hahr celebrating the Mass of Christian burial. Interment will be held next spring in the All Saints Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held Friday evening from 7-9 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 140 Main St., Richford
