Paul Robert

April 22, 1941 — April 16, 2026

BELVIDERE CENTER - Paul Marcel Joseph Robert, 84, of Belvidere Center, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026, just days before his 85th birthday. He was born in Enosburg Falls, Vermont, the son of the late Albert and Leontine (Gendron) Robert.

Paul was raised on the family farm in Enosburg Center, where he later purchased the land from his parents. Over the course of his life he wore many hats - restaurateur, caretaker, and lifelong learner. He owned and operated The Unicorn restaurant in East Burke, spent a year living in Florida, and devoted 29 years in Montgomery as the caretaker of a 600-acre estate. Later in life, Paul pursued his high school diploma through Central Vermont Adult Education, proudly graduating from Lamoille Union in 2014, and went on to complete Christian college coursework as well.

In 2008, Paul married Linda (Levandusky). The two had known each other only a couple of weeks before exchanging vows - a decision that proved to be one of the great adventures of his life. In April of 2009, Paul became a Christian, and by all accounts, the change in him was unmistakable. He often said that giving his life to the Lord was the best decision he had ever made. His favorite scripture was 2 Corinthians 5:17, and his favorite song, "Thanks to Calvary I Am Not the Man that I Used to Be," was a fitting reflection of how he lived. Paul loved singing Christian songs, and was a member of the Assembly of God church in Belvidere Center.

Paul was a true overcomer. A cancer survivor since 2007, he went on to face diabetes, congestive heart failure, and kidney failure with characteristic grace. In his final years, he underwent dialysis at clinics in both Newport and Berlin, where the nurses and technicians became people he genuinely looked forward to seeing. He was the kind of man who could make a room laugh without many words - someone who always had something kind to say and knew just how to bring comfort when it was needed most. He loved snowmobiling, BBQs, campfires, cooking his signature sweet chili, singing, dancing, and traveling. Last September he visited the Ark Encounter, calling it a truly memorable experience.

Paul is survived by his wife, Linda Robert of Belvidere Center; sisters, Pauline and Claire; Linda's parents whom he cherished, David & Carol Levandusky; sister-in-law, Wendy; a very dear friend, Sandy Ducharme, whom he considered family and construction partner for all projects around the house; and many beloved nieces, nephews, aunt and uncle in-laws. He was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Leontine Robert.

Paul's family would like to thank everyone that cared for him throughout his life: His treasured friend Pat who supported him throughout his first cancer diagnosis. His long-time nurse Tanya who always checked in on him. The dialysis teams in Newport and Berlin, especially Shannon who he adored. All of the doctors and nurses from Copley Hospital, and the University of Vermont Medical Center, especially his nurse Molly - who Paul always asked for a drink from! Finally, all his family and friends who helped him along the way.

A Memorial Service, officiated by his father-in-law, David Levandusky, will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Grace & Bible Fellowship in Belvidere Center. For directions call or text 802-585-9841. A luncheon will follow.
