SWANTON – Pauline J. Porter, age 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 9th, 2026 at her home.
She was born on November 18, 1938 in St. Albans, Vermont to the late Eli St. Francis and Evelyn (Lapan) Lampman.
She attended St. Anne’s School in Swanton. Then on December 31st, 1966, she married Harold Donald Porter Sr.
Pauline in earlier years worked at Kerbs Hospital, Tyler Place, Head Start Program, Champlain Valley Area Agency on Aging. She was a Boy Scout Leader for several years. She was a citizen of the Abenaki Nation of Missisquoi. Pauline loved to cook, do puzzles, word searches, she loved flowers and watching her soap operas. She loved to be surrounded by family, especially around the holidays.
Pauline leaves two sons, Harold Porter Jr., and Jimmy Porter and his wife Gisele; two daughters, Bonnie and husband Jack Freeman and Theresa Menard; son-in-law, Allan Poulin and Al Chiet; grandchildren, Jack Freeman Jr. and Jennifer, and Jason Freeman and Ashley Arel, Harry and Zakary Porter and Josie Curtis, Nicole Mayo, Kristen Marshall and Denzel, Katelynn Kresse and Matt, Allison Ryan and Joe, Matthew Porter and Ashley, and Amanda Parent and Ethan; great grandchildren, Alanna and Jake, Hailey, Abbey and Logan, Alyvia, Lily, Evalynn, Jackson, Bond, Harlow, Josephine, William, Mila, Elijah, Collin, Jordan, Clayton, Deklyn, Layne; great great grandchildren, Jacob and Emberlynn; half brothers and sister, Gary St. Francis and Sookie, Eli St. Francis and Ann, and Elaine Therrien and Lawrence; friend, Kristy LaVallee, special aunts and uncles, Noah Lapan and Kathy Chase, Larry Lapan and Joann, Phyllis Draper. Special Friends, Dick & Jean Menard and family, Nancy and Mike Barkyomb, Jeanne and Carlos, Tina and Monk Hakey, Brenda Nolan, Laurie Lee, as well as many special nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Eli and Evelyn, husband Harold Sr., daughter Betty Poulin, special aunts and uncles, Fred and Elizabeth Lapan, Harold and Shirley, Theresa and Donald Brow, Shirley and Paul Trombley, Jimmy and Janice Lapan, Norman and Janice Lapan, Robert and Shirley Lapan (Bucky and Peanut), Linda and Louis (Junior) Hemingway.
Friends and family will be invited to Pauline’s life celebration to include visitation on Tuesday, August 18th, 2026 from 5-7:00PM at the Goss Life Celebration Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton, VT. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 19th, 2026, at 11:00AM at the Goss Life Celebration Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton, VT 05488. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
