Peter Perrino

June 11, 1941 — December 15, 2023

HIGHGATE SPRINGS - Peter Anthony Perrino died peacefully in the early morning of Friday, December 15, 2023 surrounded by his loving family at home following a lengthy illness.

Born on June 11, 1941, Peter was the oldest of two children. The son of Peter Perrino and Pauline (Lavigne) Perrino, he grew up in Winooski where he attended local schools and joined the Army National Guard during his last years of high school. He was also a student at UVM before enlisting in the United States Navy.

On December 28th, 1963, he married the love of his life Adrienne Gagné. The couple raised four daughters and enjoyed spending time in nature and raising their family. Peter also shared his love of birding, hiking, camping, and his favorite technology hacks with his children and five grandchildren. He loved to feed, watch, and photograph the birds in his backyard.

He worked at IBM for 30 years after which he established a graphic design company, Gideon Graphics. An avid ham radio operator, Peter and Adrienne attended ham radio events. Peter talked with people all over the world via his call sign W1ALK. A lifelong outdoorsman, Peter summited the peaks of many Vermont and New York mountains. He also spent many hours walking at the National Wildlife Refuge and Rail Trail with his beloved dog, Little Man. Peter ran the Dartmouth, NH, marathon in 1979.

Peter was known for his generosity, sense of humor, and love of reading; he was always learning new things. He also shared a deep Christian faith with his wife. He is survived by Adrienne (Gagné) Perrino, his wife of nearly 60 years, and his daughters: Céleste Perrino, her close friend Samer Fahim, her children Joshua Walker and Rachel (Walker) Mletzko and her husband Nick Mletzko; Faith (Perrino) DuBois, her husband Scott DuBois, their son Zebulon DuBois and his fiancée Chelsea Boudreau; Aimée Perrino, her husband Sung-gu Kang, their son Destin Kang; Joy (Perrino) Choquette, her husband Serge Choquette, their son Pascal Choquette; and unofficial "adopted" daughter Maryalina and her husband, Louis Halpern. He is also survived by his sister Corinne (Perrino) Wadhams, her husband Chip Wadhams, her son Chris Morse, his wife Erin and their daughter Penelope, as well as many other nieces, nephews, and his best friend Ed Bordeau.

The family would like to thank the staff of Bayada Hospice for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent to Peter's favorite organizations which include the Green Mountain Club, the Missisquoi Valley Rail Trail, and the Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge.
