SWANTON - Phyllis Lasnier, age 96, passed away on Monday, November 17th, 2025 at the Franklin County Rehab Center in St. Albans, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on June 26, 1929 in Alburgh, Vermont to Royal and Bessie (LaBombard) Colgan.
She attended Swanton High School and graduated as a valedictorian in 1947. She earned her B.A in Education at Johnson Teachers College in 1951. She taught in the Williston School System and Highgate Elementary School, retiring in 1990, but continued to substitute for many years. She was a volunteer with the Highgate School library, Highgate Town Library, and was a foster grandparent.
She loved to crochet, embroidery, sewing, jig saw puzzles, avid reader, card player, crossword puzzles and civil war history. She loved to travel throughout the United States including Alaska and Gettysburgh, as well as Canada, England, and many civil war sites with her sister, Elaine and her daughters. She was a proud member of the St. Albans Historical Society, Highgate Historical Society, Swanton Alumni, VT Homemakers Guild, and VT Retired Teachers Association.
She is survived by her children, Marcia (Mike) Lambert, Kathryn (David) Hakey, Allen (Janie) Lasnier; sister-in-law, Helen Colgan; brother-in-law, Roger Lasnier; grandchildren, Matthew Thomas and partner, Amalia Langlinais, Erin (Jamie) St. Francis, Christopher Hakey and partner Marla Keene, Michele Hakey; great grandchildren, Chasity Bricker and fiance, Trevor Callan, Alyssa Bricker, Ryan Longway; great greatgrandchildren; Austin and Bentley Callan, Gracie Ann Thomas, and many special nieces and nephews, whom she was a mother figure to for many years. Phyllis was predeceased by her parents, Royal and Bessie Colgan; husband, Rene Lasnier; siblings, Clorith, Muriel (Frank) DaPrato, Melba Rachel, Clifford (Pressie), Donald (Rita Lasnier), Robert, Elaine; siblings-in-law, Regina (Meredith) Marshall, Cynthia Lasnier, and Fred Bourdon

Friends and family are invited to Phyllis' life celebration to include a visitation on Saturday, November 22nd, 2025, from 1-4:00PM, with a funeral service following at 4:00PM, at the Goss Life Celebration Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton, VT.
