Raymond Miner

June 10, 1912 — September 21, 2007

FRANKLIN, VT - J. Raymond Blanchard Miner, age 95, passed away unexpectedly Friday evening September 21, 2007 at his residence at the Carriage House in Franklin.
\tHe was born June 10, 1912 in Laconia, New Hampshire the son of the late Lee Emmett Miner and Pearl A. (Blanchard) Miner.
\tRay was raised on the family farm in Richford, VT. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1942 during WWII. Following his honorable discharge in 1945 he was employed at Pratt & Whitney in Hartford, CT as a jet engine mechanic and made his home in Simsbury where he raised his family. After his retirement in 1974 he made his home in several different areas including Lempster, NH on Long Pond, Danville, VT, Springfield, VT, and Quechee VT where he made his home with his daughter and her family. In 2001 he moved to the Carriage House in Franklin where he received the finest of care and made many new friends which his family is greatly appreciative of.
\tRay enjoyed tinkering on cars and engines. He also loved to be at his daughters camp on Lake Carmi, VT, which he helped build. Most of all he loved to spend time with his grandchildren and give them tractor rides.
\tHe is survived by his daughter and her husband Susan & C. Kevin Tibbits of White River Jct. and Lake Carmi; 3 grandchildren, Alison, Jesse, and Britney Tibbits; his brother, Francis S. Miner and his wife Cecile of Williston; a special friend, Barbara Cutting of Franklin; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Beth M. (Babcock) Miner on February 13, 1998; a daughter, Sally Ann Miner; and 2 brothers, Reginald Lee Miner and John Garfield Miner.
\tFuneral services will be held Tuesday September 25, 2007 at 1:00 PM at the Vincent Funeral Home in Simsbury, CT. Interment with full military honors will follow in the Simsbury Cemetery in Simsbury, CT. There will be no visiting hours.
\tA memorial service will be held on Saturday October 13, 2007 at 11:00 at the Franklin Homestead FELCO Room, Homestead Dr., Franklin, VT.
