Rene Demers

DELAND, FL / BERKSHIRE, VT - Rene Wilfred Demers, passed away February 20, 2023 at his home at the age of 90 with his faithful companion, Buddy at his side after a short period of being on hospice.

Rene was born August 27, 1932 in Berkshire to the late Wilfred & Evelyn (Blanchette) Demers.

Rene was very proud to have been a dairy farmer. After retiring he loved talking about any kind of farming to anyone who would listen, especially in recent years with his loyal friends, Jim Benjamin and Betty Kinney as well as his special niece & nephew.

Rene spent the last 45 years at his favorite place called home in Deland, FL. He and the love of his life Clara spent many seasons traveling the east coast enroute to Berkshire to spend the summers with Clara's family.

He is survived by his children, Doreen Demers (Rick Greene), Roger Demers & Diane Demers; 5 grandchildren, Ryan Leadbeater (Jessie Guilmette), Kayla Vermillion, Kyle Vermillion (Stevie), Kassidy Latchaw and Karson Latchaw & 4 great grandchildren, he is survived by Clara's family; his brother Ralph Demers and his wife Cecile; his extended Demers and Smith families; and a special family friend, Kathy Seibert. Besides his parents, Rene was predeceased by his beloved wife Clara; the mother of his children, Marcelle; his brother, Lucien; his grandchildren, Nathan Burns, Michael Smith & Harte Greene; and former son-in-law, Gary Wetherbee.

Rene's family would like to give a special thank you to all who have reached out to provide support. Your kindness is appreciated.

Friends and family are invited to Rene's life celebration to include a Mass on Friday, August 18, 2023 at 2:00 PM at All Saints Catholic Church, Main St., Richford, VT. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery in Richford.
