Richard "Sam" Lahue, age 72, of Berkshire, Vermont, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026, at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington.
Born on November 6, 1953, in Cincinnati, Richard was the son of Edith and Richard Lahue. He graduated from Richford High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army as a truck mechanic during the Vietnam War.
Richard was a longtime resident of Berkshire and spent much of his life working in the logging industry. He worked for Lussier Saw Mill, and several other logging outfits throughout the area, and eventually operated his own logging business. A hardworking and dedicated man, Richard took great pride in his work and the life he built for his family.
An avid outdoorsman, Richard loved hunting and fishing and found peace in Vermont's woods and waters. He was also a cherished member of Bible Central, where his faith and fellowship meant a great deal to him.
Richard is survived by his brothers, Roland Paul Lahue of Vermont, David Spencer of North Carolina, and Brian Lahue and his wife Jessica of Vermont; his daughters, Trina Lockerby and her partner Jerrod of Plattsburgh, New York, and Jessie Letourneau and her husband Mike of Berkshire, Vermont; and his eight grandchildren, Mikey Letourneau, Meagan Lewis, Anna Francois and her husband Davidson, Paula Blazonis, Cierra Lagrow and her wife Adrianna, Shawn Murray Jr., Clayton Letourneau, and Sophia Letourneau. He is also survived by three great grandchildren.
Richard was predeceased by his beloved wife, Kathy Lahue; his parents, Edith and Richard Lahue; his sister, Edith M. Lahue; his uncle, Sammy St. Mary; and his longtime business partner and best friend, Art Bugbee.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 27th, 2026 at 12:00PM at Bible Central, 44 Stebbins Street, Enosburg, Vermont.
Richard will be remembered for his strong work ethic, love of the outdoors, devotion to family, and the friendships he built throughout his life.
