ENOSBURG FALLS - Richard J. Pete Rivers, age 68, passed away unexpectedly Thursday April 12, 2007 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.
\tHe was born in Sheldon August 16, 1938 the son of the late, Floyd & Irene (Jutras) Rivers.
\tPete was a resident of Enosburg Falls most of his life and was a 1957 graduate of Enosburg Falls High School. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and was employed at Rock Tenn Paper Mill in Sheldon Springs for 44 years where he was operating a fork lift on Thursday when he suffered an apparent heart attack. He also owned and operated Petes VCR Repair from his home for many years. He was an Enosburg Falls Village Trustee from 1988 to 2005 and prior to that he was a Water & Light Commissioner also for the Village of Enosburg Falls from 1986 to 1988. Pete enjoyed NASCAR Racing with his favorite drivers being Dale Earnhardt Jr. and the late Dale Earnhardt Sr.. He also enjoyed listening to country music and going up-street for coffee to visit with his friends.
\tHe is survived by his wife, Frances Rivers; his son, Thomas Rivers; his granddaughter Shelby Rivers all of Enosburg Falls; his sister and her husband, Yvonne & Danton Doner of Rocky Hill, CT; several nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Audrey Spears of Richford. Besides his parents he was predeceased by 3 sisters, Lucille Rivers, Rita Roarty, and Theresa Maille.
\tIn keeping with Petes wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no funeral services. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in St. Isidores Cemetery in Montgomery Center.
\tVisiting hours will be held Monday evening April 16, 2007 from 7-9 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.
