Robert Sedgwick

December 1, 1956 — April 11, 2026

ROCHESTER - Robert Broek Sedgwick, born December 1, 1956, passed away on April 11, 2026, at his home in Rochester, Vermont, with his wife, Donna, by his side.

Born in Manchester, New Hampshire, to Robert and Norma Sedgwick, Robert grew up with a strong sense of adventure, independence, and determination. He was preceded in death by his parents and his younger sister, Robyn Beth Sedgwick.

After graduating high school, Robert enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served proudly for many years. His dedication to service continued long after active duty, ultimately retiring from the Naval Reserves in 1996.

Robert was a man of many talents-someone who could fix, build, or finagle just about anything. Whether it was plumbing, electrical work, mechanics, or carpentry, he approached every task with skill and confidence. His lifelong love of aviation led him to pilot hot air balloons for several years and later pursue his passion for powered parachutes, where he found joy and freedom in the sky, along with a community of close friends.

He had a deep appreciation for the things that sparked wonder: lighthouses, NASA, the Red Sox, and the kind of humor only a true dad could deliver. His children grew up with a shared love of music and Star Trek, gifts he passed down with enthusiasm and pride.

Robert is survived by his wife, Donna Boumil; his children, (Robert) Brandon Sedgwick and his wife Rebeccah, Sarah Umari and her husband Ryan, and Candin Boucher and her husband Mark; his stepchildren, Jonathan Juneau and wife Kaylynn, and Darcie Gregoire and husband Mike; and 18 grandchildren, with his first great grandchild expected in July.

He leaves behind a legacy of adventure, craftsmanship, service, and humor-a life lived fully, with both his feet and his heart often in the sky.

Friends & family are invited to Robert's life celebration to include funeral rites and military honors on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 487 Furnace Road, Randolph, VT.
