March 19, 1940 — November 19, 2023

ENOSBURG FALLS- Roger R. Perry, age 83, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at the St. Albans Health & Rehab Center.

He was born in Sheldon on March 19, 1940 to the late Margariet Arlene (Neveau) and Edwin Ralph Perry.

From an early age, Roger demonstrated a thirst for knowledge and a deep connection to his spirituality. He grew up in East Berkshire, attending schools in Enosburg Center, Berkshire, and Richford, before ultimately graduating from Enosburg Falls High School in 1958. Following high school, his journey took him across the border to Canada, where he pursued his calling and became an ordained minister.

Roger's dedication to helping others led him to a career in the medical field, specifically as a respiratory therapist. He spent several years working at a hospital in Brattleboro before joining the U.S. Army. During his time in the military, Roger's exceptional skills and compassion shone as he served as a respiratory therapist, providing essential care to fellow soldiers. His commitment and service were honored with an honorable discharge.

After his military service, Roger continued his fulfilling career in California, where he worked as a respiratory therapist at a major hospital. His expertise and genuine care for his patients made a lasting impact on countless lives. However, the call of his roots eventually beckoned him back to Vermont, where he settled in Burlington. There, he found joy in driving a local shuttle bus, forming connections with the community he served.

Though dedicated to his work, Roger's spiritual side and love for his faith remained a constant throughout his life. He was an avid reader of the Bible and had a remarkable singing voice that found solace in the melodies of gospel music. His infectious laughter and quick wit endeared him to those around him, leaving a lasting impression on all who crossed his path.

In more recent years, Roger found great joy in taking leisurely strolls through the streets of Enosburg, engaging in heartfelt conversations with familiar faces along the way. The local establishment, The Flying Disc, became a cherished spot for him, where he delighted in the camaraderie of friends and lively discussions. Additionally, his love for genealogy allowed him to delve deep into his family history, connecting with distant relatives and preserving his heritage.

He is survived by his sisters, Audrey Perry-Patterson and her husband Stuart of Richford, and Dale Burns and her husband Jim of Enosburg Falls; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Roger was predeceased by his sister Diane Ryea; and his beloved Grandma Perry.

A private graveside service will be held next spring at the convenience of Roger's family.
