Roland Sweet

SHELDON- Roland E. Sweet, age 59, passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023 at Burlington Health and Rehab Center.

He was born in Newport on December 16, 1963 to Edward Sweet and Pauline Blanchard.

Roland grew up in Franklin County and attended Enosburg Falls High School. He worked on several local farms including his father's on Middle Road in Franklin, and most recently for Benoit Pothier.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman, finding peace and solace in the great outdoors. You could often find him showing off his impressive bowling skills, tinkering on a vehicle, or cheering passionately for the Vikings and Green Bay Packers. Roland also had a captivating love for WWE wrestling, losing himself in the thrill of the matches.

Roland's vibrant personality and warm heart made him the life of the party. His sense of humor was infectious, and his generosity knew no bounds. He had a natural ability to care for others and bring a smile to their faces. Roland's love for music shone through as he played his guitar with his son Joshua, and sang alongside his daughter Ashley. And when it was time to hit the dance floor, you could bet Roland would be the first one out there.

Roland is survived by his children, Ashley Sweet-Paquette and her significant other Kristy Hulbert of Highgate, Joshua Sweet-Paquette and his wife Nicole of Richford, and Chelsea Sweet and her husband William Scott of Richford; grandchildren, Rilynn Paquette, Mckenna Sandridge, Tristan Smith, Tanner Sandridge, Ciaran Paquette, Rowan Paquette, Cecilia Scott, David Scott, Hunter Scott, Kora-Lynn Scott, and Grayson Ryea; father, Edward Sweet and his wife Sherrie of St. Albans; mother, Pauline Blanchard of St. Albans; siblings, Tammy Sweet and her significant other Eric Shepard, Vicki Fletcher and her husband Aaron, and Lori Dewing and her husband Dan; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Edward G. "Eddie" Sweet Sr; maternal grandparents, William & Augusta (Peters) Blanchard; paternal grandparents, Elvin G. & Zoa (Wright) Sweet; and aunts & uncles, Stevie Blanchard, Melvin Sweet, Herbert "Pokey" Sweet, Mildred Blanchard, Chester Sweet, Roland Blanchard, Shirley Blanchard, and Julie Phillips.

Family and friends are invited to Roland's life celebration events on Friday, December 15, 2023 to include visitation at Noon followed by a memorial service at 1:00PM at The Goss-Spears Life Celebration Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls, VT 05450.

Roland Edward Sweet brought joy, laughter, and warmth to everyone he encountered. He will forever be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his infectious spirit, and his zest for life. In Roland's words, "Hootie, hootie, hoo, mother ****ers!"
