Shannon Fairbanks

July 3, 1978 — December 8, 2025

ENOSBURGH - With heavy hearts, we share the news of the passing of Shannon James Fairbanks, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, who left us too soon on December 8, 2025, at the age of 47. Born on July 3, 1978, in Mary Esther, Florida, Shannon spent most of his life in the beautiful surroundings of Vermont, where he was known for his infectious laugh and endearing trademark smirk.

A proud graduate of Enosburg Falls High School in 1996, Shannon dove right into the workforce at Bourdeau Brothers. His career there was marked by a strong work ethic and a can-do attitude, as he contributed in every capacity, working as their Yard & Fertilizer Operations Manager. He could also drive every piece of equipment they owned. Anyone who worked with him knew that he brought a positive spirit to every job, and his genuine joy for life was unmistakable.

Shannon was a true outdoorsman at heart. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and working in the garden. He could often be found smoking meat and cheese. Shannon was a kind soul, never saying a bad word about anyone, and a loving family member, cherishing his nieces and nephews. His great sense of humor was a gift; and he loved practical jokes - giving and receiving. Shannon had a knack for making light of any situation, and his ability to brighten a room will be deeply missed.

Shannon leaves behind his loving parents, Michael & Reba (Bowlby) Fairbanks; his brother, Jeremy Fairbanks; sister, Amber Ovitt; nieces & nephews, Levi Webb, Ethan Ovitt, Aspyn Ovitt, and Blake Fairbanks; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his life-long friend, James Monette. Shannon was predeceased by his grandparents, Beverly & Kenneth Fairbanks, and James & Nancy Bowlby; his nephew, Dawson Perley; and his good friend and accomplice, Timothy Perley.

Friends & family are invited to Shannon's life celebration to include visitation from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at the Goss-Spears Life Celebration Home, 96 Dickinson Avenue, Enosburg Falls, VT. A graveside memorial service will be held in the spring.

For those who wish, contributions in Shannon's memory may be made to the Dawson Perley Athletic Scholarship, C/O Community National Bank, P.O. Box 469, Enosburg Falls, VT 05450.
