Shirley "Peanut" A. Lapan

Swanton

SWANTON – Shirley “Peanut” A. Lapan, age 77, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 11, 2022 surrounded by her loving family at her home in Swanton.

She was born in Springfield, MA on June 8, 1945 to the late John & Gladys (Stearns) Murphy.

Peanut was a longtime Swanton resident. She was an Assistant Cook at the Senior Center for years. Peanut would do anything to help out the elderly, she had a huge heart and loved to feed people. Her family will miss her delicious fried dough, baked beans, perfect turkey gravy, pea soup, dumplings, and so many more special dishes that came out of her kitchen. Peanut loved to run the roads, collect stuff, watch QVC, and soap operas. She enjoyed decorating her house with colorful collectibles and tending to her flowers. But nothing compared to the love she had for her family, they meant everything to her.

She is survived by her children, Robert “Bob” Lapan Jr. and his wife Tracy, Fred Lapan and his wife April, and Kelly Williams and her husband Pete; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Debra Corliss; and her brother, John “Sam” Murphy. Besides her parents, Peanut was predeceased by her husband and the love of her life, Robert “Bucky” Lapan Sr.; son, Dwayne Lapan; granddaughter, Ashley Lapan; And her brother, Steve Murphy.

Peanut was surrounded by people who cared about her, helped out and made it possible for her to stay in her home. Her family would like to thank, The Abenaki Nation, Franklin County Home Health, Herman Barratt, lifelong friend and like a sister, Pauline Porter, Chip Choiniere, Bill Daniels, and her nephew, Jami Lapan.
