Susan Martin

March 2, 1955 — March 27, 2024

SWANTON - Susan C. Martin, age 69, passed away after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on March 2, 1955, to the late Clifton and Clara LaFar. Susan married her soulmate, Arnold L. Martin on November 21, 1969.

Susan raised three girls and was blessed with two grandchildren who she loved more than anything. Family was everything to her. She was a published poet in multiple poetry books and editorial pieces, and she wrote children's books. Susan was also a homemaker who dedicated her life to nurturing and caring for others. She had a love for farms, tropical beaches, and nature. Susan always had a love for her hobby farm, which included chickens, ducks, and rabbits that she raised with her family. She cherished the simplest of gifts that anyone gave her and saw the beauty in everything. Susan was one of the kindest women you could ever meet; she donated often to those less fortunate, including Children's International and St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Susan believed in her faith and held strong to her God. To know Susan was to love her; she had a big heart with room for everyone. We will hold our memories of her close to our hearts. She was the matriarch of the family and her memory will not be forgotten - she will live on within us.

In addition to her parents, Susan was predeceased by her husband, Arnold L. Martin. Susan leaves behind her children, Apryl Martin and her furry companion Stella (AKA Ratty Jane) of Swanton; Crystal Woods and her husband Antonio Woods of Swanton; and Shannon Dilley and her partner Juan Olmos of Sacramento, California. She also leaves behind her two grandchildren, Shelly Campbell and her husband, Troy Campbell of Swanton; and Victor Woods and his wife, Danielle Woods of Swanton.

For those who wish to make contributions in Susan's memory, donations may be made to the UVM Medical Adult Infusion Center at Shep 4, Jim Bashaw Memorial Cancer & Catastrophic Illness Fund, or donate blood or platelets to the Red Cross as it prolongs and saves lives.

In keeping Susan's wishes, there will be no public services.
