Victor Gaudette

SWANTON - Victor Gaudette, age 84, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at his home in Swanton.

He was born May 25, 1942 in St. Albans to the late Paul & Ethel (Bessette) Gaudette.

Victor grew up in Georgia and attended a one room schoolhouse. From a young age, he learned about the value of hard work while helping out at his family's slaughterhouse, an experience that shaped his tireless work ethic. Later, he honed his skills at Charbonneau's Market and Grand Union before bringing his dream to life in 1971 when he opened Gaudette's Market. Known for his exceptional talent as a meat cutter, Victor wore many hats as the owner-operator, where he was fondly regarded by locals and customers alike.

After passing the torch of Gaudette's Market in 2000, he embarked on a new venture as a real estate developer, managing several rental properties while remaining deeply connected to his community. Beyond his professional life, Victor was a man of numerous passions. He found joy in the great outdoors, often including deer hunting trips across Vermont, Maine, and Pennsylvania. A certified private pilot, he reveled in the freedom of flying, experiencing the world from above. His love for travel took him to many exciting destinations-Hawaii, Las Vegas, and Atlantic City were just a few of the places that he loved.

He is survived by his children, Gregory Gaudette and his wife Lauriann, Stephen Gaudette and his significant other Christine, Michelle Frank and her husband James, and Jason Gaudette and his wife Stacy; Andrew Gaudette, Tyler Gaudette and his wife Morgan, Nathan Gaudette, Julianna Gaudette, Cheyenne Gaudette, and Aaron Frank; one great grandchild, Cowen; siblings, Vance Gaudette, Vinton Gaudette and his wife Jan, and Paula Gaudette; and several nieces & nephews. In addition to his parents, Victor was predeceased by his wife, Sandra Gaudette; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Gaudette; and his siblings, Vernon Gaudette, and Paul Gaudette.

Friends & family are invited to Victor's life celebration to include visitation from 4-7:00 PM on Thursday, August 27, 2026 at the Goss Life Celebration Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton, VT. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 28, 2026 at the Goss Life Celebration Home. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Swanton.
