Virginia "Ginny" Messier

BERKSHIRE - Virginia M. "Ginny" Messier, age 81, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at St. Albans Health & Rehab.

She was born September 26, 1944 in Richford to the late Robert Sr. & Florence (Greenwood) Pudvah of Montgomery.

Ginny was a pillar of the Berkshire community, serving the town for over 30 years in various capacities, including tax collector, lister, assistant town clerk, and ultimately, Town Clerk. Prior to her work for the town, she worked at the sewing factory in Richford, Richford Elementary and High Schools, and the Berkshire Elementary School. Ginny was also proud to have served on the NOTCH board for several years.

Her creative spirit thrived through her passion for crafting, especially her renowned Christmas wreaths, which brought joy to many during the holiday season. Craft shows were a favorite pastime for Virginia, where she shared her creations and built cherished relationships within the community. Above all, her family was her world; she was an unwavering support to her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces & nephews.

She is survived her two sons, Edward Messier and his wife Emily Fecteau, and Richard Messier and his wife Mabel; eight grandchildren, Cayla Jobin and her husband James, Gabe Elwood and her husband Kyle, Krista Rhodes and her husband Shane, Morgan Nutting and his wife Megan, Samantha Parah and her significant other Billy Lollis, Amanda Messier and her significant other KJ Kurowski, Nicole Kilgore and her significant other Johnel, and Max Messier and his significant other Abbie; 20 great grandchildren, Danielle Jobin, Madison Jobin, Ryan Jobin, Carolina Elwood, Rhett Elwood, Sawyer Elwood, Cameron Rhodes, Barrett Rhodes, Brantley Nutting, Emmaryah Nutting, Miley Nutting, Megan Raymond, Annabelle Gazaille, Alyssa Gazaille, Laila Tuck, Annie Tuck, Paige Tuck, Braxton Kurowski, Lily Ryan, and Jessie Ryan; two great great grandchildren, Preston Gleason, and Analise Gleason; her sister-in-law, Virginia Kinney and her husband Raymond; and several nieces & nephews. In addition to her parents, Ginny was predeceased by her husband, Brian "Buzzy" Messier; and her brothers, Donald Pudvah, and Robert Pudvah Jr.

Friends & family are invited to Ginny's life celebration to include a graveside memorial service at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 22, 2026 at St. Isidore Cemetery, Mountain Road, Montgomery, VT.
