Vivian Belanger

December 25, 1903 — March 25, 2007

ENOSBURG FALLS - Vivian Regina Ma George Belanger, age 103, went to be with the Lord and her husband on Sunday March 25, 2007 at the Brownway Residence in Enosburg Falls.
\tShe was born on Christmas Day December 25, 1903 in Franklin, VT the daughter of the late John & Regina (Trombley) Tatro.
\tShe graduated from Franklin High School in 1923 and from teachers training in Enosburg Falls in 1924. Vivian taught school for 2 years in a one room school house near Franklin with 30 students in grades one through nine. She married the love of her life George Belanger in 1925. Vivian quickly realized that she preferred marriage and homemaking to teaching and that she did well for 57 ½ years until George passed away in 1982.George and Vivian moved to Enosburg in 1948 where together they ran a service station that later was converted to a small grocery store on South Main St. for many years. Vivian loved the camp on Lake Carmi that she and George had built. Also long boat rides around the lake and spending time with their children & grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. Known to her family as Ma George she always lived close to school and you could always count on her to have a snack ready for the kids if they went there after school. Vivian remained quite independent and lived alone up until March of 2006.
\tShe is survived by 2 children, Carroll Belanger and his wife Gemma of Lake City, FL, and Betty Carpenter and her husband John of East Enosburg; 7 grandchildren, Mary Mason and her husband Lewis, Jim Carpenter and his wife Suz-Anne, Dianne Tibbits and her husband Arthur all of Enosburg, Cindy Playful and her husband Philip of Fairfield, Carole Carpenter and her longtime companion Oliver Hurtubise of Richford, Larry Belanger and his wife Dawn of Lake City, FL, and Randy Belanger and his wife Liz of Hernando, MS; 19 great grandchildren, and 16 great great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Hildred Tatro of Enosburg Falls; several nieces and nephews and many loyal friends at Brownway and Riverview. Besides her parents and husband, Vivian was predeceased by a grandson, Art Carpenter; granddaughter, Peggy Belanger; daughter-in-law, Thelma Belanger; 3 sisters, Beatrice Ploof, Blanche Lothian, and Marjorie Magnant; 2 brothers, Clarnce Tatro & Tom Tatro.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to all the wonderful caregivers from Home Health, Brownway, and especially Veronica Draper.
\tFuneral services will be held Thursday March 29, 2007 at 11:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Enosburg Falls with Rev. Benedict Kiely celebrating the Mass of Christian burial. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
\tVisiting hours will be held Wednesday from 7-9 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.
