Waneta I. Tanner

November 20, 1931 — September 19, 2021

ENOSBURG FALLS – Waneta I. Tanner, age 89, passed away on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at the Franlin County Rehab Center in St. Albans.

 

She was born in Bakersfield on November 20, 1931 to the late E. Arliss & Lila (Minor) Thomas.

 

Waneta was a 1949 graduate of Brigham Academy in Bakersfield. She worked at Aseltine’s Insurance Agency, Enosburg Falls Savings Bank which is now known as TD Bank. She retired in 1990 after 38 years in banking. Her retirement jobs started with the Community Health Center followed by serving as the Assistant Town Clerk in Enosburg where she would help with elections. She also served as the President of the American Legion Auxiliary, a proud member of the “45” card club and the Red Clover Home Dem.

 

She liked reading, writing poetry, crossword puzzles, going out for breakfast and her “Friday lunches” with the girls. She also enjoyed working at the lunch and dinners at the Methodist Church. Above all, she loved spending time with her family.

 

She is survived by her daughter, Lee Ann Bapp and her husband Jack of Enosburg Falls; grandsons, Christopher Bapp and his wife Sarah (Smith) of St. Albans, and Jason Bapp of Fairfield; great grandchildren, Emma, Samuel, Ayvah, and Aryah Bapp; step-great grandchildren, Issac, Alayna, and Elysabeth “Ellie” Swan; sister-in-law, Catherine Thomas; and many nieces & nephews. In addition to her parents, Waneta was predeceased by her brothers, Llewellyn “Tom” Thomas, and Cedric “Ted” Thomas; sister-in-law, Pauline Thomas; nephews, Michael, Duane, and David Thomas; niece, Kelly Thomas; and her former husband, Lloyd Tanner.

 

Friends and family are invited to Waneta’s life celebration on Friday, September 24, 2021 to include visitation from 10-11:00 AM followed with a memorial service at 11:00 AM at the Goss-Spears Life Celebration Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls. Interment will follow in South Franklin Cemetery.
