William "Bill" Johnson III

NORTH HERO - William "Bill" J. Johnson III, age 67, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2025 at Massachusetts General Hospital.

He was born in Port Jefferson, NY on November 3, 1957 to the late William II & Patricia (Lind) Johnson.

Bill led a remarkable life filled with adventure, service, and a deep connection to the water. Growing up across several states in the U.S., Bill graduated from high school in Illinois. Following his graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served as a pilot, exploring the skies and broadening his horizons. His love for travel took him around the world, gaining experiences that shaped his spirit.

Having settled in Vermont, Bill turned his passion for the water into a fulfilling career. He dedicated many years to the marine business, working at numerous marinas and even owning his own marine business. Bill also spent over 25 years at IBM/Global Foundries, as an engineer. His heart belonged to Lake Champlain, where he found solace and joy, deeply appreciating the beauty of the waters that surrounded him.

He is survived by the love of his life and best friend, Donna Macdonald; his children, William "Bill" Johnson IV, his wife Keri, and Sabrenia Gill, her husband Joseph; Donna's children, Rachel (Corey) Brown, Heather (Miguel) Macdonald, and Ryan (Alaffia) Macdonald; grandchildren, Aidan, Lexi, Gavin, Saint, and Amira; and three sisters and their families. Bill was predeceased by his parents.

Bill's family will be holding a private remembrance for him at a later date.
